The Boat Race
Friday, April 30, 2010 at 11:51AM For those of you that don't know, I'm a rower. I started about four years ago with the Des Moines Rowing Club. I find that rowing is a fun and challenging sport. You can row by yourself or in a group. The larger the group, the more difficult the row, as every rower needs to be in sync for a successful row. My personal goal with rowing is to make it look easy. If you you see someone rowing and it looks effortless, chances are they are doing a good job. While you can row year 'round, in my area things start picking up around this time of year. For me the mental "start" of the season is the Boat Race. This series has been going on for 156 years and is a competition between Oxford and Cambridge. This year's race was held on Saturday, 3 April 2010 on the River Thames. Cambridge was the victor this year and currently the lead in series with 80 wins to Oxford's 75. If you haven't seen the race, I strongly urge you to do so.
