Au Lait Verde
I've had this tea for quite some time but had just put it on the back burner. It was in its tin and just waiting for me to get tired of the monkey picked black and lapsang.
It wasn't until I took a stroll in the mall with my buddy Luke, and noticed that Teavana has discontinued the Au Lait Verde. They had 16oz tins of the stuff for sale at half price. It was like giving a newly recovering junkie a fix. I bought it without hesitation. I knew I shouldn't, I had been so good at turning down offers of tea as my cupboards are and have been stuffed with various teas for the past few months, but I did it. It was mine.
When I got home from work the first thing I did was fill the kettle to its maximum with water and put it over the burner. This was going to be good. I had two pounds of tea and I was determined to make some sort of dent in it by the end of the night.
After five minutes or so the kettle skreeked— letting me know that within a couple minutes I was going to taste this yummy green tea. Teavana recommends steeping this tea for one minute with 175 degrees F water. I can handle it. My solution is to load the 24oz tea infuser with ice first that way the hot water won't be at a boiling temperature.
My first sip of the Au Lait Verde was a pleasure. The tea has a vegetable creamy taste that is soft and enjoyable. After a hefty-sized cup was done I poured another just so I could bask in the deliciousness once again. When I made another batch I left the tea to steep a little longer than a minute and it was slightly bitter. I will not make the same mistake next time.
I would suggest you pick up some Au Lait Verde before it makes its final departure.
